DESCRIPTION
The Duchess is a powerful and ultra-compact amplifier. It is equipped with four preamp valves, a 180-watt power section, reverb, and tremolo. This version has been updated and now incorporates Two Notes Audio Engineering’s DynIR Virtual Cabinet technology (integrated with Torpedo), a headphone output, and our Valve Response Circuit (VRC™) technology.
The Duchess delivers vintage American clean tones and British-style saturation. This single-channel amp is ideal for a small cabinet, a desktop amp, or for touring musicians looking for a reliable, high-performance amp for their pedalboards.
FEATURES
Volume and Master
Adjust your preamp gain and output volume. A slight amount of saturation is possible at the preamp level if desired, but the primary goal remains to provide plenty of headroom and dynamic tones.
3-Band EQ
Powerful bass, middle, and treble controls allow you to sculpt your sound. They also affect the gain and saturation level, as on any valve guitar amp.
Reverb
A lush digital reverb provides a rich, expansive ambience. Turn it down for a subtle sense of space, or crank it up for immersive, deep sonic breadth!
Tremolo
From slow and pulsing to fast and staccato, we love this classic effect. Toggle it on/off directly on the chassis or via remote.
Series Effects Loop
Located between the preamp and power amp, this loop allows you to apply your time-based effects for optimal clarity.
Two Notes Technology
Two Notes Audio Engineering’s DynIR Virtual Cabinet technology, integrated with Torpedo, is built into the Duchess. The XLR Cab Sim output lets you easily take your Victory virtual cabinets everywhere with you. The presets were created by Pete Honore for the Duchess.
The Two Notes cabinet simulation signal can be routed to the line and XLR outputs, or only to the XLR output.
Balanced Line Output and Headphone Output
Send a direct signal to an external speaker simulator, front-of-house console, or any other device of your choice. Usable with or without a speaker connected. The integrated headphone output makes silent practice quick and easy.
9V DC Power Output
Need to power extra pedals and integrate it into your pedalboard? We have included a 9V DC output (center negative) providing a maximum current of 500mA. This is more than enough for the vast majority of overdrive, fuzz, analog delay pedals, etc.
TWO NOTES TECHNOLOGY
We collaborated with the talented engineers at Two Notes Audio Engineering to integrate their cutting-edge technology into our V4 Duchess guitar amp.
Out of the box, you have access to six presets created by Victory artist Pete Honore. These presets were specifically designed by Pete for the V4 Duchess guitar amp. Ten Victory virtual cabinets are included with the amp, along with a selection of microphones and positions to create your own presets. Access all these features by connecting your V4 Duchess guitar amp to your computer via Torpedo Remote (available for free download on the Two Notes website). This is also where you access power amp modes, room settings, studio-grade EQ, and the audio enhancer. Register your device with Two Notes to unlock two additional Two Notes DynIR cabinets.
THE STORY OF THE V4 AMP VALVES!
V4 amps are equipped with interesting valves: three CV4014s and one EC900. The CV4014s were manufactured in 1981 at the Mullard factory in England, then stored in a climate-controlled atmosphere, deep underground in a Cold War-era nuclear bunker! They remained there until we decided to use them to design certain products.
The EC900s were manufactured by E.I. (Elektronska Industrija) in the former Yugoslavia under license from Philips and Mullard. Their manufacturing quality was exceptional, so much so that we offer a 2-year warranty on the valves in V4 amplifiers.
V4 DUCHESS UPDATE
Launched in 2020, the V4 Duchess amplifier was updated in 2022 with the integration of Two Notes, a headphone output, and Valve Response Circuitry (VRC). This update coincided with the launch of the V4 Copper, V4 Jack, and V4 Sheriff.
