DESCRIPTION
When developing the Duchess MKII, we were careful not to stray too far from the elements that made the original range a success. In terms of sound, the Duchess remains the reference amplifier for clean and slightly overdriven tones, and the ideal platform for pedalboards. In addition, we have drawn inspiration from some of our more recent products: we have added new tonal switching options from the MK Clean series and updated the reverb circuits to incorporate the same Accutronics spring tank as used in the MK Clean.
Voice Selector
Increased tonal flexibility is now possible thanks to a new 3-position voice selector, allowing you to adapt it to any type of pickup or playing style. Each successive selection boosts the low-mid frequencies via the treble control.
Mid Kick
This popular feature from the original Duchess range has been expanded and now offers three levels of dynamic mid-range shaping:
Position I: Original response
Position II: Boosted low-mids
Position III: Additional gain in the high-mids
Valve Spring Reverb
We have integrated a 3-spring, medium-decay Accutronics spring reverb, driven by valves – the same high-end model used in our flagship MK Clean model. It can be switched on/off via the included footswitch.
Valve Tremolo
An authentic valve-driven tremolo provides the finishing touch to the Duchess. With its speed and depth controls, it is ideal for achieving classic tones.
Low Power Mode
The front-mounted power switch offers a low power mode of approximately 7 watts. This mode is perfect for home or studio use, and particularly useful for stage performances with in-ear monitors. You can also... crank the amp and enjoy that extra saturation at low volume and incredible compression.
Series Effects Loop
The bypassable effects loop allows for the use of delays, reverbs, etc., after the preamp for a clear sound. The V40 Deluxe uses a post-phase inverter master volume; if the sound is not clean enough, lower the output level of the pedal, especially if you turn up the amp's master volume.
