The EVH® 5150® Iconic® series answers the call of gigging and recording guitarists craving that powerful, pure EVH tube tone at a more affordable price. Evolving from the acclaimed EVH 5150III® amplifiers, the Iconic® series delivers the signature sound and blistering gain that Eddie Van Halen made famous throughout his groundbreaking career.
Designed by renowned amp engineer James Brown, the 5150® Iconic® Series 15-watt head is powered by an EL34 power tube and anchored by a complex, multi-stage hybrid preamp section, voiced with a pair of ECC83 tubes, providing all the fire power the modern guitarist needs.
Surprising in its power for the price, this amp head features two channels with an additional voicing on each for even more versatility. The green channel boasts an overdrive button to run from clean tones to increased gain, while the red channel’s “burn” button adds fiery crunch that’s perfect for blistering leads. Each channel houses its own gain and volume controls, allowing for level-matching when switching between clean and high-gain channels. The Boost control allows you to add an extra 10dB of foot-switchable volume to your sound—perfect for ensuring your solos cut through the mix. The control panel also includes a shared EQ (low, mid, and high), global resonance and presence knobs to adjust the low- and high-end response, and a global reverb control to add the perfect amount of bounce and decay for any room.
Other features include a two-button footswitch, an effects loop, dual parallel speaker output jacks, a 1/4" power attenuator switch to reduce wattage—allowing you to crank the amp and still retain tone without destroying your neighbor’s peace—and a speaker-emulated XLR DI output with power amp mute for authentic all-tube EVH tone for direct recording or running through a PA system. Boasting sophisticated and distinct EVH style, the 15-watt 5150 Iconic Series head comes in a Black textured vinyl covering with a brushed gold anodized aluminum front panel and black steel grille with black and gold 5150 and EVH logos. This tube head is finished off with a brushed gold anodized aluminum control panel, vintage-style “chicken head” knobs, and a molded black plastic top handle.
