A tube guitar amp sounds and feels best when cranked to the max and its power section is fully pushed. Unfortunately, the output levels produced are usually uncontrollable for anyone who doesn't have an isolation booth or very forgiving neighbors.
The WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core solves this problem by capturing your amp's speaker output with a reactive load and selectable options that accurately mimic the behavior of combo and stack-style speakers. The sound is fed directly to the internal 30-watt reactive power amp, ready to be connected to an external cabinet for low-volume practice. The same signal is also sent to the device's cabinet emulations and effects processing, giving you a pristine signal for direct recordings.
Premium speaker sounds
The associated editor software offers a studio playground for shaping the raw amp tone within the WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core. Choose from 22 BOSS cabinet emulations and five classic mic types (two available simultaneously) and dial in the perfect mix using position, distance, and level controls. It is also possible to use up to two speaker IRs simultaneously, either from the included Celestion digital IRs or your personal IR library. Thanks to the time-alignment function, you can precisely align IR combinations for an optimally fluid sound.

The WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core includes powerful tools to help you achieve top-notch recording tones, without any sound engineering experience. Developed with renowned guitarists and sound engineers, the Mix Assist function allows you to apply one of three contour curves with variable transient control. This makes it easy to record parts that fit perfectly into your mixes, significantly improving your production quality. The immersive Air Feel function uses BOSS spatial technology to recreate the inspiring “amp in the room” sound that guitarists love so much. The two Air Feel studio variants offer realistic richness, depth, and dimension, providing more natural results than the ambient mics typically used to add space to guitar recordings.
Effects and configurations
Effects processing plays a vital role in creating great studio guitar tones. The WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core features a series/parallel loop to insert your favorite mod
and ambiance effects, positioned after the amp's distortion for optimal clarity. The unit also features a range of high-quality internal processing, allowing you to apply compression, EQ, delay, and reverb directly within the device. You can customize your configurations in the editor, including cabinet choices and effects, and assign 10 favorites for instant access via the front-panel Rig button.
Versatile connections
The WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core allows you to use your custom configurations in multiple ways simultaneously. Record directly to DAW software via USB or connect to a mixer or audio interface via the stereo XLR jacks. Plug in an external cabinet (4/8/16 ohms) for your daily rehearsals. You can also listen to your music via headphones through the front-panel input, with Air Feel technology for an inspiring spatial experience.
Expansion options
Thanks to the WAZA Tube Amp Expander Core Editor, you can load 64 WAV IRs of your favorite third-party cabinets, in addition to the 10 included Celestion digital IRs. Mono or stereo files are supported, with a length of 500 ms and 32-bit floating/96 kHz resolution for optimal audio quality. The optional Bluetooth® Audio MIDI Dual Adaptor provides wireless capabilities, letting you jam along to music streamed from a smartphone and use the mobile version of the editor to tweak your configurations and load IRs.
