The PRS Archon is a two-channel amplifier that delivers versatile overdriven tones and sparkling clean tones with plenty of headroom. Designed with five gain stages before the master volume, the Archon's main channel is designed to cover all styles, from classic rock to metal, with full, lush distortion. The clean channel delivers rich tones that retain their clarity even at high volume, and there's plenty of headroom, creating an excellent platform for the pedals. The Archon has a remarkably responsive sound with incredible note separation, whether you play on the clean channel or the main channel.
The PRS Archon is powered by two 6CA7 power tubes, which sit between the EL34 and 6L6 tubes, providing the best of both worlds. The 6CA7s are warm, full and articulate, with smooth highs and tight lows. They wiggle, distort, and get heavy without oversaturating, and they sing without becoming aggressive.
The Archon's control layout allows for detailed and intuitive sound shaping, using the "no flash or trash" approach. Each channel has volume, treble, mid, bass and master volume controls, as well as a brightness switch. The 3-band EQ allows players to better dial in the sound they desire, while the volume and master volume controls work together to control distortion and amp power.
