The Kraken has transformed into an even more powerful beast thanks to a massive 100 watts of 6L6 power. You still get the British-inspired Gain I channel. You still get the colossal taste of American grind from Gain II... but now there's an all-new footswitchable clean mode, as well as a footswitchable Preamp Focus function to add some juice and cut to all modes. There's also a preset Bass Focus option in the power section, a footswitchable effects loop, assignable/footswitchable dual master volumes… as well as a useful 30 watt low power mode for when you don't have need to blow the roof off. And of course, MIDI switching capability.
Gain I Crunch...and Clean!
The VX100's clean mode is entirely new, enabling sparkling, clear sounds with superb headroom. Switch your foot to crunch mode and you're rocking the hottest British gain sounds. Activate preamp focus to boost, tighten and punch
Win II
The Gain II channel picks up where Gain I leaves off. There's added overdrive as you'd expect, but also tighter bass response and a more focused midrange character, for a more American flavor to your riffs. Yes, it's Djents if you want.
Preamp tuning
This preset, footswitchable boost adds a bit of gain while tightening the bass and pushing the mids. This sounds like what a clean sounding TS type pedal would do. It works in all three modes: Clean, Gain I and Gain II.
Focus on power amp bass
This preset, footswitchable function affects the negative feedback in the power section. One setting provides a smoother bass response with plenty of vintage-style resonance. The other setting is tighter and more focused on the low end.
Double main volumes
You can set them to change with the channels (Gain I/Master I and Gain II/Master II) or have them independently footswitched for two separate master volume levels whenever you want.
Low power mode
Choose between 30 watts low power or 100 watts high power. Both are very loud, but the feel and dynamics are different.
Traditional footswitching...
There are six footswitchable functions in the VX100: Gain I/GainII, Clean/Crunch modes, Preamp Focus, Power Amp Focus, Master Volumes and FX Loop… Two two-button footswitches come standard with the amp - see below.
MIDI control
The six functions mentioned on the left are MIDI switchable with a compatible MIDI controller. This means you can pre-program multiple function changes at once…along with all your other MIDI-enabled devices, if you wish.
