The V4 The Sheriff is a two-channel pedal preamp that delivers true tube overdrive. Use it directly on the front of your amp or recording interface, or use it in conjunction with your amp's effects loop to completely bypass the front of your existing amp for a whole new sonic experience. This is definitely not an “ordinary” overdrive pedal!
All three V4 Series pedal preamps have the same features, controls and connections.
Signal path on all valves
1 x EC900 and 3 x CV4014 valves operating at high plate voltage. These are the first pedal-sized guitar preamps to feature four tubes and an all-tube signal path. This is no “ordinary” overdrive pedal!
Two channels
The first channel goes from the edge of breakdown to heavily driven classic rock sounds. Channel two is fully modified to high gain plexi with more midrange aggression.
Remote switching
The TRS jack gives you the ability to change the pedal remotely. You can control on/off as well as channel 1/2 with a separate two-button foot lock or via a modern programmable switching unit. This means you can take the V4 Series pedal preamp off the ground and out of harm's way.
Light switch
Bright is a global tone control that optimizes the V4 pedal preamp based on what you plug in. Amp effects loops, inputs, recording devices, etc. all differ significantly, so just choose the setting that suits your ears best. Don't worry if other settings seem "bad". It all depends on what you're playing!
Steel frame
If you stand on it and it has hot glass in it, it should be strong. The folded steel chassis and crash bar for the buttons mean this rig is ready for the road.
Two ways to connect
We recommend "Amp Through Mode" for full functionality where you can choose to use your amp's own front end or the V4 preamp through the amp's effects loop. To use it as a 'normal' pedal or if you don't have an effects loop, use 'Standalone' mode.
Live, at home and at home studio
Place it on your pedal board, on your amp or on your desk. This is especially useful for flight dates or other situations where you're not using your own amp. Just hit the FX loop return of whatever you're using and feel right at home in no time.
Three-band equalizer
Powerful bass, mid and treble controls. These also have a significant effect on gain character and drive levels, as in any tube guitar amp.
