Our award-winning V40 The Duchess, evolved with spring reverb and valve tremolo.
The V40 Deluxe lives up to its name with stunning cream vinyl over traditional wood cabinets with leather corners and handle for a modern boutique look. You can expect everything from classic American cleans to pushed tweedy to pushed British blues-rock. Choose between a 1x12 combo or a head & Taxi.
This one is for “feel” players: a standard sound machine for home, studio and stage.
Single channel and amplifier Voice switch
Go from vintage-style California tones with single coils to mid-'60s British sound, all on one channel. Voice II boosts the mids at the input for added punch and cut. Compared to the V40 The Duchess, the V40 Deluxe has slightly more brightness and “air” overall; a step or two from the Mid-Atlantic Duchess to the Californian Deluxe.
Valve spring reverb
The V40 Deluxe benefits from a valve-driven and recovered long-tank spring reverb, for authentic vintage-style verbosity. We've also included a Tone knob on the reverb that lets you go from a soft, dark ambience to much brighter, more "springy" sounds. The reverb can also be switched on and off by foot.
Low power mode
You will find a switch on the rear panel offering a low consumption mode of around 7 watts. This works wonderfully for home and studio use, not to mention those of you who work on quiet stages and have in-ear headphones. Or… just max out the amp and enjoy that super low volume and incredible compression.
Medium kick
This works in conjunction with the Middle knob to boost the midrange frequencies in the EQ section. The more you push the Middle knob, the more it pushes distorted sounds, especially with humbuckers. Overall, you'll find slightly more overdrive and compression at maximum gain than in the Compact Series V40 The Duchess.
Valve tremolo
Tremolo was one of the very first guitar effects to be used amazingly in everything from blues to rock 'n' roll, country, rock, Americana, pop and more. Moreover. Given the vintage leanings of the V40 The Deluxe, it was a shoe to include here. Try it with a ton of reverb and wonder how you ever lived without it!
Series effects loop
The hard-to-bypass effects loop lets you use delays, reverbs, and more. after the preamp section of the amp to maintain a clear sound. The V40 Deluxe uses a post-phase-reversal master volume, so if it's not as clear as you'd like, try lowering the pedal's mix/output, especially when increasing the amp's master volume. .
