A revolution for home drumming
Roland V-Drums are among the quietest electronic drums on the market thanks to years of research and development, precision engineering, and the ability to play with headphones. However, in certain circumstances, even V-Drums can sometimes produce too much noise. The simple impact of strikes on the pads can disturb those around you or your neighbors. Furthermore, the use of kick and hi-hat pedals transmits vibrations through the floor. These resonate through the building structure and create noise in adjacent rooms.
V-Drums Quiet Design solves all these problems. Although they resemble conventional V-Drums, its components incorporate major innovations that make it very quiet. Carefully designed pads and hardware greatly reduce the volume of playing noise, while sound-absorbing materials store all the kinetic energy of strikes to prevent it from escaping to neighboring rooms.
Designed for quiet play
Overcoming the problem of drum noise and designing an even quieter V-Drums kit required extensive research into sound transmission and material selection, as well as the development of all-new techniques. Detailed tests in select locations revealed that the V-Drums Quiet Design VQD106 reduces noise by 75% compared to a conventional V-Drums kit. The kick and hi-hat are incredibly quiet, and the stick strikes on the pads produce a volume similar to a standard conversation.
Ultra-sensitive snare and tom pads
Despite their advanced noise-reduction features, the snare and toms of the VQD106 provide natural stick feel, identical to the best V-Drums pads. The PDQ-8S and PDQ-8 pads feature a honeycomb rubber playing surface covered with a mesh head that greatly absorbs sound. Carefully calculated vents on the side opposite the playing surface allow air to escape and reduce noise even further. The PDQ-8S snare pad features independent sensors for the head and rim, and the rim is covered with soft rubber for silent triggering.
Articulated cymbal pads with natural swing
The VQD106 kit includes three versatile CYQ-12 cymbal pads featuring honeycomb rubber, mesh heads, and vents, just like the snare and tom pads. Furthermore, the plastic parts are isolated by soft rubber that absorbs vibrations. Used as a crash or ride, the CYQ-12 detects bow and edge hits, swings naturally, and can be choked by grasping it. Used as a hi-hat, this pad is coupled with the FD-9 controller pedal to provide detailed response and ultra-quiet operation.
A comfortable kick pad and beater
The KDQ-8 kick pad provides the "thud" sensation that drummers look for, while keeping the sound confined to your headphones. Its eight-inch head is compatible with single or double kick pedals and incorporates a playing surface made of a triple layer of dense foam covered with a double mesh head. This surface is surrounded by a special floating frame that reduces vibration and noise transfer. Four rubber feet provide additional sound isolation and stability, while the KDB-Q silent beater has a spherical shape to minimize impact noise on the playing surface.
Sound-isolating rack and pedal boards
Our innovative rack and pedal boards complete the V-Drums Quiet Design playing experience by limiting the transmission of striking noise to the floor and other rooms in your home. The special hemispherical rubber feet on the rack limit pad noise, and the NEQ-K (for kick) and NEQ-H (for hi-hat) boards are made of rubber to dampen noise from foot strikes. These boards, newly developed for V-Drums Quiet Design, are an evolution of our popular Noise Eater NE-10.
A powerful TD-07 sound module
The TD-07 is a versatile sound module offering high-quality acoustic and electronic drum sounds, recorded in professional studios and powered by advanced V-Drums technology. Each sound can be customized by swapping components, changing tuning, adding muffling, and using EQ to find the perfect tone. The integrated Bluetooth allows you to stream audio from a smartphone or tablet through the module to play along or follow lessons. Thanks to its USB port, you can record stereo audio or MIDI to music production software, trigger software instruments, and use the Melodics™ coaching app with its interactive lessons, which are free for V-Drums users.
V-Drums Quiet Design options
If you already own a V-Drums module and want to benefit from the V-Drums Acoustic Design hardware, no problem. The VQD106PADS kit offers all the components of the VQD106 without the module and connection cables. V-Drums Quiet Design components are also available individually, allowing you to expand your kit or replace the pads on your current V-Drums setup. The pads are compatible with several V-Drums modules in addition to the TD-07: TD-17, TD-27, TD-50X, and V71.
