DESCRIPTION
The elegant body shape is familiar—straight from the original late-1970s Charvel San Dimas basses, with the deeper cutaway that gave adventurous bassists effortless access to the upper registers.
The ultra-thin bolt-on Charvel Speed maple neck is crafted in the original style, with a gorgeous caramelized treatment, graphite reinforcement, and a heel-mount truss rod adjustment wheel for easy setup. The 12"-16" compound radius caramelized maple fingerboard flattens out gradually from the nut to the heel for fast, smooth playing, and features rolled edges, 20 jumbo frets, and Luminlay® side dots.
And like the originals, the Pro-Mod San Dimas® PJ IV MAH bass features the powerful voice of DiMarzio® pickups—a J™ model at the bridge for well-balanced punch and a P® model in the middle for a warm, fat tone with midrange growl when pushed. The versatile electronics include a three-band active EQ, pickup blend control, and master volume control with push/pull selector. The push/pull selector eliminates the risk of sound loss due to a dead battery, as a quick pull on the volume knob bypasses the active EQ circuit and regains the bass’s sound without the need for battery power.
A Charvel HiMass™ bridge, Graph Tech® TUSQ® XL nut, and open-gear tuners combine for exceptional tuning stability with improved punch and note sustain.
This 4-string bass is available in Natural Mahogany and Satin Ferrari Red finishes with chrome hardware, cream pickup covers, and a licensed Fender® Precision Bass® headstock shape.
