Known as the global ambassador of drumming, Dom Famularo was one of the most influential and beloved drummers, educators, and motivators in the world. A SABIAN artist since 1985, Dom was synonymous with the company, sharing our passion for the art, our dedication to the craft, and our family. In that spirit, we are thrilled to honor our longtime friend and partner with the new 20-inch HHX Dominator China cymbal.
Dom played his China cymbals by striking the edge on both sides successively, to the point where he actually removed the tension from the lips of his HHX China cymbals, giving them a distinctive wavy appearance. By applying a special lathing process to the top of the Dominator, SABIAN's artisans were able to mimic this effect, which, along with a raw bell and HHX hammering, results in a freer, trashier instrument that opens quickly for a fast, dark attack.
