The legendary Grabber G-3 makes its grand return in a Mike Dirnt signature version.
Mike Dirnt is the bassist and co-founder of the iconic punk rock band Green Day. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, his distinctive bass lines, vocal contributions, and boundless energy on stage have been essential to Green Day's success. Today, Mike Dirnt has collaborated with Epiphone to recreate the Gibson Grabber G-3 bass he has used on countless tours and albums, including "Dookie," the breakthrough Green Day album released in 1994, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. The Epiphone Mike Dirnt Grabber G-3 bass features a double-cutaway maple Grabber body. The three-piece maple neck, with a 34-inch scale, has an ebony fingerboard (maple on the natural finish model) with 20 medium jumbo frets and black abalone dot inlays. The classic "V™" Grabber headstock is equipped with open-gear bass tuners with historic clover buttons and a bone nut. The strings pass over a high-density Leo Quan® Badass II™ bridge for increased attack and sustain, as well as precise intonation and action adjustment. They then run through the body and are secured by ferrules on the back for exceptional sound and sustain. The three Gibson G-3 pickups are made at the Gibson Pickup Shop in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, and wired in a "buck-and-a-half" configuration. In the up position, the neck and middle pickups are activated simultaneously, producing a humbucker™ effect. In the middle position, all three pickups are activated. When the selector is in the down position, the middle and bridge pickups are activated and work in concert to produce a humbucker effect. This versatile pickup configuration, combined with the volume and tone controls, offers a wide palette of hum-free tones. The Epiphone Mike Dirnt Grabber G-3 bass comes in a hardshell case to protect it on your next world tour.
