The Faux Spring Reverb has been a staple on many players' boards for many years now, and when it was discontinued a few years ago, Brian received many requests to bring it back ever since. Not being one to just reissue something, Brian decided to take all the player feedback he had received and give it a little upgrade.
The result was the birth of the Mini Faux Spring Reverb. Following the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy, he simply added more of what players love. More decay, more drip, and more of that bouncy spring sound that players love in larger Reverb tanks. Although it sounds bigger and fuller, he decided to condense it into a mini enclosure to fit perfectly at the end of a grab-and-go chain.
Bypass Switch - A true-bypass footswitch ensures solid mechanical removal of the circuit when not desired, meaning you don't lose any tone when the pedal is off.
Volume – This control adjusts the amount of wet signal present. Sometimes you want a subtle, gentle hint of reverb; sometimes you want splashy, wet, bouncy goodness. The pedal works best in your amp, and it is very important to consider that when you increase the gain of your amp, especially if it starts to overdrive/distort, the reverb sound will increase significantly due to the natural compression introduced by amp drive. To keep the amount of reverb where you want it, be sure to carefully set the level control when at your desired amp volume. Using pedals in front of the Faux Spring Reverb does not require this adjustment, as they play into the simulated spring reverb sound. It is only if the Faux Spring Reverb signal goes into something that creates saturation or distortion that you need to be careful when adjusting the level control to ensure you don't get more reverb than expected. This knob, used in conjunction with the Tone and Depth knobs, also allows you to dial in a really interesting nuance for the overall sound, upon which you can play for lots of texture. I will make sure to include a preset that demonstrates this use.
Tone – This adjusts the sound of the Mini Faux Spring Reverb to be brighter or darker. Useful for dialing in precisely the type of spring tone you want; at higher settings, you can get very lively sounds while you play, while at lower settings, down to fully counter-clockwise, the sound has a darker, more understated quality. Adjusting this control will necessarily involve adjusting the Depth control, since these two settings have a huge impact on the overall sound of the Mini Faux Spring Reverb. Sound shaping is vital for dialing it in for your guitar, pedals, and amp setup, and Brian has taken care to include the entire range of adjustment you need to get a great reverb sound, regardless of your surrounding gear.
Depth – Depth controls how long the simulated spring reverb of the Mini Faux Spring Reverb trails off. Higher depth settings can give you a huge sound that only long, looser reverb tanks provide, while shorter depth settings are perfect for simulating smaller spring reverb tanks. Adjust in conjunction with Tone to dial in the perfect desired reverb tone, then set how forward or in the background you want it with Volume. Three knobs, impeccable control, and tons of sounds!
