To prevent left double pedals from shifting, a special stabilizer is attached to the outer frame. This increases the stability of the floor anchor bolts.
The pedals are supplied as standard with a specially designed hard carrying case.
We have modified the footboard bearing hinge design: instead of a single piece, it is now made of two pieces. This system holds the bearing more evenly, minimizing stress and optimizing smoothness, while enhancing the pedal's feel of power.
During our in-depth study of previous pedal designs, we found that under the stress of intensive use, pedals oscillated laterally, which hindered their efficiency. By widening the frame, the overall structure of the pedal is strengthened. The supports that hold the rotating shaft are 15mm wider and the base plate is about 12mm wider than on the previous Cobra model.
The classic approach to the spring system (including on previous Iron Cobra pedals) was to anchor the base of the spring while its top end was subjected to pulls at different angles throughout the pedaling cycle. But a spring pulled at an angle represents a loss of energy and causes turbulence. The Swivel Spring Tight system solves this problem by recovering this lost energy and optimizing smoothness thanks to a contoured assembly that allows the base to rotate freely with the spring. This allows for a straight-line spring pull during the entire pedal cycle, providing the smoothest and lightest action ever achieved on a bass drum pedal.
Tama has eliminated another source of friction by replacing the traditional nylon rocker cam with the Speedo-Ring, a rocker cam equipped with a high-quality integrated ball bearing. The Quick-Hook not only makes setup and teardown easy, but also provides a compact pedal that can be packed into the hard case without having to remove the beater.
Tama now introduces the Para-Clamp II, an even more ingenious and practical version of the original model. The Para-Clamp II is compatible with a very wide range of bass drum hoops. This improvement is mainly due to its new three-dimensional rubber grip surface. The holding power is increased and the risk of scratching the hoop is eliminated. In addition, setup and teardown are easier, even while seated, because the Para-Clamp II Pro's T-bolt is located on the side of the pedal, not underneath.
Offering even less friction than standard ball bearings, Oiles® bearings also eliminate side-to-side motion and provide superior durability (which is why they are used in the aerospace industry).
The Vari-Pitch beater angle adjustment is completely independent of the footboard angle. The Speedo-Ring allows the angle of the pedal linkage to be adjusted independently of the beater angle. The combination of the Speedo-Ring and Vari-Pitch makes it possible to achieve all types of strokes and improve playing comfort.
The Cobra Coil is a steel spring that assists the pedal in returning to its original position, for even more exceptional Speed Cobra feel. Best of all, the Cobra Coil is adjustable in forward or backward position on the base plate.
The new Super Spring requires less effort at the beginning of the pedal action. When the beater bounces off the bass drum head, the response is faster and, thanks to the Cobra Coil adjustment under the pedal, the feel is even smoother.
The new Cobra beater has been designed to fully exploit the potential of the bass drum. Butadiene rubber has unique characteristics: high wear resistance, increased lightness, and a precise, punchy sound. Thanks to its thicker rubber section, the sound is rich and precise, even at low volume.
Weighing 40% less than our previous Iron Cobra cam, the "LiteSprocket" Rolling Glide round sprocket turns naturally and smoothly, contributing to a lighter and more responsive feel.
To play fast and continuous passages, the pedal must be light to reduce tension and muscle fatigue. The recessed adjustment position makes it possible to obtain a perfect balance between the natural feel of the chain drive motion and a lighter action. According to a physical theorem, a larger angle (θ) between the force exerted on the pedal (F1) and the chain's pulling force on the sprocket (F2) reduces the power of F1 for the same power of F2. To exploit this theorem, we optimized the pedal position to obtain an ideal balance between natural movement and great flexibility. Furthermore, the change in the bearing structure reduces stress on the FASTBALL bearing and significantly improves the feel. The result is about 20% less effort to achieve the same power and feel as with current models.
A pedal specially designed for the Speed Cobra series. Longer than that of the Iron Cobra, it significantly accelerates the beater stroke. With less physical effort than before. Additionally, the smoother playing surface reduces friction between your foot and the board, thus offering more precise control and greater flexibility.
