Sometimes floor monitors are a problem. There's not enough room for them on stage or someone sits down and can't hear the monitors or the drummer can't hear them well enough. Or maybe it's a concert or rehearsal and you haven't had enough time to organize them. Either way, sometimes it's best to just put on a pair of headphones and connect them to the PA system in some way. This is where a headphone jack comes in. It is a passive device with an input for connecting the PA amplifier or monitor and an output for connecting headphones. A volume control adjusts the headphone level, and internal resistors keep the device's impedance high enough to protect the headphones. It also protects the amplifier from too low a load impedance when powering jack units, the speaker system or multiple jack units by themselves. The HeadTAP will also work with a stereo headphone amplifier for use in recording situations when you want to add headphones for other artists.
