Description
Designed to deliver classic PAF sound with modern construction, the vintage '59 (SH-1) output humbucker pickup delivers an open, detailed tone as well as a smooth top end, making it the ideal choice for rock and the Blues.

The '59 Bridge Model (SH-1b) is a vintage output humbucker pickup ideal for rock, blues and more. Its vintage-inspired coils give it an airy quality that fits firmly into the PAF family, and the alnico 5 magnet and vacuum wax potting make it compatible with lighter guitar strings and louder amplifiers than those used in the 1950s. The result is a pickup with tons of old-school tonal characteristics, but with a brighter top end and a slightly more compressed sound.

The '59 neck model (SH-1n) is one of our most popular pickups due to its versatility. Like its bridge counterpart, the '59 neck model is designed in the spirit of the original PAF humbuckers from the 1950s, with smooth sustain and a warm, full tone that still has a clear attack. We've made some improvements to slightly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different styles. The highs are slightly boosted to improve the clarity of the pick attack and the mids are slightly reduced to achieve an open, smooth sound, ideal for preserving the clarity of the different notes of a chord. The '59 neck was designed to accompany the '59 bridge, but many players pair it with a high-output bridge humbucker, such as a JB or Custom. It's also a popular choice for humbucker-equipped Telecasters.

Offered in 6-string with standard humbucker and Trembucker spacing, the '59 model features a variety of traditional vintage treatments, such as 42AWG enameled mag wire, long leg nickel-silver bottom plate, single conductor vintage lead wire braided push back, and the absence of logo. If you opt for a four-conductor version for coil separation, the '59's single-coil mode is crystal clear. Like all of our PAF style pickups, the vintage '59 humbucker is wound on Seymour's classic Leesona 102 winding machine, sourced from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. Also available for neck and bridge in a passive configuration for 7 strings.
