Launched in the early 60s, the Gibson SG Special was designed as a middle-ground model between the entry-level SG Junior and the SG Standard. It combines the simplicity and affordability of the Junior with the versatility and more refined aesthetic of the now-iconic SG Standard. Despite its more streamlined approach, it quickly became a hallmark of the most memorable rock riffs and performances. The Epiphone SG Special P-90, part of the newly refreshed Inspired by Gibson Collection, brings back the legendary solid-body electric SG, featuring a double-cutaway mahogany body and a mahogany neck with a 60s SlimTaper™ profile for fast, precise playing. The Indian laurel fingerboard features 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays, and is bound. The 60s-style Kalamazoo headstock features Epiphone Deluxe tuners with ivory buttons, a Graph Tech™ nut, and an inlaid pearloid Epiphone logo. The Lightning Bolt wrap-around bridge, true to the vintage spirit of the SG Special, ensures precise intonation and impressive sustain. The SG Special P-90 is powered by two Epiphone P-90 PRO™ soapbar single-coil pickups, known for their mid-range bite and exceptional dynamics. Turn the volume down for crystalline cleans, or crank it up for punchy, overdriven tones that cut through the mix.
