DESCRIPTION
The Wolfgang Special features a basswood body with an arched top and a robust bolt-on quartersawn baked maple neck with graphite reinforcement. The neck is sculpted and profiled to Eddie Van Halen's exacting specifications, and features a hand-rubbed satin urethane finish on the back. Built for high-performance playing, energetic riffing, and blazing leads, the 12"-16" compound radius ebony fingerboard (baked maple on the gloss black finish) has 22 jumbo frets and pearloid dot inlays (black on the gloss black finish). Truss rod adjustment is child's play thanks to a spoke wheel located at the base of the neck. Two custom-designed, high-end EVH® Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups are mounted directly to the body, providing dynamic and articulate voicing, as well as endless sustain for powerful chords and melodies. A sturdy and reliable EVH-branded Floyd Rose® locking tremolo and Floyd Rose locking nut work in tandem for precise tuning, even during extreme pitch changes. The EVH D-Tuna® system allows for instant drop-D tuning and back again with absolute accuracy at the flick of a switch. The volume knob with treble bleed circuit features an EVH Bourns® 500K low-friction pot for smooth swells, while the tone control uses a high-friction EVH Bourns® 250K pot to prevent accidental tone shifting. Available in Smoked Mesquite, Caution Yellow, Ivory, and Stealth Black with baked maple necks and ebony fingerboards, as well as Gloss Black with a baked maple neck and fingerboard.
