Fusion, in its current form, is a relatively recent concept, drawing its roots not only from theoretical jazz but also from rock; not classic blues rock, but rather the virtuosic and technical rock that reached its peak in the mid-80s. Tom Quayle is one of the precursors of this genre. An iconic and highly sought-after figure in modern fusion rock in the UK, he possesses a solid theoretical knowledge, a circle of students composed not only of confirmed musicians but also true industry stars, and perfect pitch. Yet, he had never found the ideal effects pedal to fully express his talent.
When we first met Tom in early 2012, he was already using our Euphoria and Paisley Drive pedals combined to achieve the sounds he was looking for. But something was missing; as these pedals were designed more for other musical styles, we set out to adapt the tones to his playing. He was looking for more transparency, a more precise and controllable response in the low end, and, once the pedals were stacked, he needed to get the sound and feel of an amp pushed to its limits, offering optimal clarity and responsiveness for every string.
More than a year later, the Dual Fusion was born. Thanks to its two independent circuits, inspired by but entirely modified from the Euphoria and Paisley Drive, Tom finally has a sound that matches his inspiration and innovative spirit.
