Born and raised in Oakland, mxmtoon is a self-taught singer-songwriter who burst onto the indie pop scene thanks to the runaway success of her 2018 self-produced EP, “plum blossom,” recorded entirely in her bedroom. Rooted in intimate lo-fi production, mxmtoon’s style quickly resonated with a wide audience. Her music, characterized by a sweet, sincere voice, ukulele chords, and sparkling, witty introspection, soon captured a large following. Following her albums “the masquerade” and “dawn & dusk,” mxmtoon now boasts over 5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, a growing online community, and her own podcast: “365 days with mxmtoon.”

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve always tried to remind myself of the importance of cycles. No matter how frantic life feels, the sun rises and sets, followed by the moon every single day. With my signature ukulele, I wanted that message to be conveyed through the engravings! I think that often, as artists, we are very hard on ourselves when we aren't able to produce consistently.
