BEAUTIFUL OVERDRIVE
The pedal that inspired this circuit has been around for a long time in various forms, but most versions have too much "Hi Fi" sound, they fail to get the right mix of clarity and bass that is needed to make this overdrive sing. Brian added additional gain capabilities to this circuit and added a bass control that controls all overtones, from smooth and creamy to tight and crisp.
The sound this circuit delivers is a favorite in Nashville and Brian Wampler's take on it is everything you'd expect from it: high quality components, a beautiful cabinet and beautiful sound. If you set the gain low and the bass control high, you get a beautiful, clear sound that can rival any Klone circuit, but when you turn the bass down and increase the gain, you suddenly find yourself with super transparent a medium overdrive/distortion sound with all the crunch you need.
The color control is more than just a standard tone control and it is quite unique to this circuit. Dialing it right or left will boost or cut the treble and bass a bit, but the mid frequencies are fine left alone. Combine this with the Bass control and you get a very versatile tone shaping palette with Wampler's legendary ease of use. Brian also added a push button to the side that will control the amount of compression and change the clipping structure in the circuit for a little more punch.
