The IR-D does not simulate a Friedman tube preamp. It's a. While many preamp pedals available use tubes to "warm up"
their digital or solid-state circuitry, two red-hot 12AX7 preamp tubes, operating at the appropriate high voltage, are these

TWO INDEPENDENT BOOSTS

1.6402 57 121
Dave Friedman's favorite 4x12 cabin in bare wood. This is Dave's main workshop cabin and has been used
to express its amplifiers from the very beginning. It is equipped with four 6402 Greenback speakers and has been
captured with an SM57 and R-121 for a nice balance of fit and body.
2. 1960 GREEN 5757121
This IR cabinet is the classic 1960B cabinet from the 80s. Equipped with 20W British greenbacks. It has a
distinctive sound signature that sings of the 80s over modern rock tones. Captured with every other pair of SM57s
speakers, as well as an R-121 to help fill out the body of sound. These have been introduced in a set of APIs
preamps with a touch of EQ to enhance presence.
3. DS112 57 1973
The Friedman Dirty Shirley 1x12 open-back speaker with a G12-50GL features a
high-end with airy bass and midrange response. A perfect choice for light tones or if you are looking for
for a more bluesy sound. Captured with an SM57 and Soyuz 1973 in API preamps.

Standalone preamp
Do you want all the benefits of the IR-D's all-tube preamp section but prefer a live cabinet on stage? No problem.
Simply connect the Send effects loop to your time effects and then to the power section of your amp. You can
always send the IR output to the console to avoid the hassle of taking a live mic into the speaker (see the manual for details).

To use IR-D's IR technology independently of the preamp section, simply plug in your favorite preamp or pedals.
