Our direct boxes are designed for maximum sonic integrity, from the custom-wound CineMag USA transformer to the rugged metal knobs and switches. You can expect a rich, warm sound, even over long cable runs, and the extruded aluminum housing ensures a long life. To convert an instrument signal to a mic signal, with sound quality as your top priority, the Warm Audio active and passive direct boxes are ideal.
A new direct box experience
Warm Audio direct boxes offer the rare versatility of a built-in variable pad that attenuates the input signal from -3 dB to -30 dB, making it easy to tame any instrumental input source.
Both of our direct boxes are equipped with a Thru-Put jack linked to the input jack. This convenient jack allows you to send your instrument signal to another device, in addition to the mixing console or recorder. Our direct boxes can also take a recorded line-level signal and pass it to another line input while simultaneously passing the signal via the direct box's XLR mic output.
Typical direct box applications
Connecting electronic instruments such as guitar, bass, keyboards, or drum machines directly to a PA or recording system. Simply put, a direct box converts high-impedance unbalanced output signals into low-impedance balanced signals. Thus, instrument signals are converted to the appropriate voltage level for the PA or recording system, significantly reducing or even eliminating connections prone to tonal variations and distortion.
Passive or active?
The active direct box is ideal for instruments with passive pickups, including acoustic instruments. It can also operate in passive mode. The passive direct box is ideal for balancing the signal of instruments equipped with active electronics, while providing excellent performance on passive pickups, producing a wider frequency range than most passive direct boxes on the market.
