The DI Radial J48 is quite simply the best active DI in the world.
It has been optimized to be able to support high amplitude signals without saturating using only the 5 mA of current typically available on a phantom power supply. The J48 has a switching power supply which allows the circuits to be supplied with 9 volts!
Most active guitars and basses will provide signals of 7 volts of amplitude at maximum volume. Since most adapter boxes are capable of handling around 3 volts, they saturate. As the J48 has more headroom, it does not have this saturation problem. This additional space also helps reduce harmonic, phase and intermodulation distortions.
