The Radial StageBug SB-4 is a compact active adapter box that has been optimized for use with piezoelectric sensors.
This solution allows you to better amplify violins, dobros, mandolins, cellos, double basses and other instruments equipped with piezos without compromising on sound or frequency response.
The SB-4 has a jack input for instrumental sound recording. Unlike conventional DIs which have an input impedance of 1 megaohms, the SB-4 has an input impedance of 10 megaohms, which has the effect of smoothing out the annoying peaks that give piezos this bad reputation. The higher impedance also broadens the frequency response for a more natural and pleasant sound. The active circuit performs the conversion from high to low impedance while balancing the signal. This allows signals to be transmitted over long distances without loss while providing linearity and low distortion in the audio chain.
To help eliminate feedback, the SB-4 is equipped with a high-pass filter that reduces bass resonances and a 180-degree polarity reverser that allows you to narrow down areas of the stage - changing the phase relationship between the facade and the acoustics of the room. An AUX connector provides the ability to connect to the amplifier in addition to the standard XLR output. Power comes from the console's 48V, eliminating the need for an external power supply. You simply plug in once the 48 V is switched on and play!
These features, combined with its compact size, make the StageBug SB-4 the ideal companion for instrumentalists of all backgrounds who want to express themselves fully and at a lower cost.
