BeatStep - POWERHOUSE COMPACT CONTROL POWERHOUSE
The chameleon controller and sequencer that offers almost endless possibilities. With its compact format, it is the ideal companion on the road or in the studio. Arturias BeatStep offers a new level of functionality and performance for a portable pad controller. BeatStep is very versatile, able to trigger clips in apps such as Ableton Live, it also allows you to play drums in conjunction with apps such as BFD or EZDrummer. BeatStep is also a 16-step analog sequencer for creating all kinds of musical phrases to send to analog synthesizers, MIDI drum machines, MIDI keyboards or computer programs. Its extensive connectivity allows you to interface BeatStep with a computer or iPAD via USB, a drum module via MIDI, or a CV/GATE-equipped analog synthesizer.
Step sequencer
In SEQ mode, your pads become active for each step in your sequence. The 16 encoders will adjust the pitch for the associated step. 16 memories allow you to instantly recall your favorite patterns while pad scale modes, Seq playback modes and time division functions allow you to modify performances in real time.
Add to that MIDI, USB and CV/GATE connectivity and you have a sequencer that can be used with all types of hardware, including analog synths, software instruments and MIDI hardware.
Percussion controller
With 16 velocity and pressure sensitive pads, the BeatStep is the perfect compact percussion instrument. Ultra-sensitive pads deliver exceptional dynamic performance. The 16 encoders can be assigned to adjust parameters that provide real-time control of your drum sounds.
General-purpose control surface
BeatStep pads can be configured to be MIDI CC buttons or to send Program and Bank Change messages as well as note-on and note-off messages.
With 16 encoders, 16 pads/buttons and 16 preset memories, you can use BeatStep in multiple ways in any live or studio environment. You can trigger clips in Ableton Live or use the encoders to adjust effect settings in your favorite DJ app. Transport buttons can be MMC or MIDI CC controls to start and stop your DAW. This can be the MIDI clock master or the external clock slave.
By using an iPad with the Camera Connection Kit, you can turn the BeatStep into one of the most flexible iPad app controllers as well.
