Dual 31-band graphic EQ, 31-band Paragic virtual EQ and 10-band parametric EQ.
Of course, the DEQ2496 has a phase-neutral digital graphic equalizer, but we've added a feature that lets you change the bandwidth of each frequency from 1/3 to 59/3.
Or, if you prefer the traditional approach to variable bandwidth, we've included 10-band settings that can be adjusted in increments of up to 1/60 octave.
Dynamically activated EQ
The dynamic equalizer automatically increases or decreases a defined frequency range based on the volume level. It's literally a combination of an equalizer (with frequency center and bandwidth control) and a dynamics processor (with ATTACK, RELEASE, THRESHOLD and RATIO parameters).
DEQ opens up a world of possibilities for both creative mastering and sound reinforcement problem solving. We've given you full control with multiple filter types, including bandpass mode. And of course, you can save DEQ settings to recall them at any time manually or via MIDI.
Feedback destroyer with learning mode
With the numerical capabilities we just listed, it's easy to see why we were able to include a very effective Feedback Destroyer (FBD). It's essentially a dynamically activated parametric EQ that monitors the entire frequency spectrum in 160-octave bands, then instantly identifies and notches the feedback. FBD can be used in AUTO mode to compensate for performers' movements on stage, or in SNGLE mode which locks to individual frequencies and varies attenuation and bandwidth based on feedback stimulus more suitable for fixed microphone installations .
We've also included a LEARN mode that generates short audio pulses, increases their gain until feedback occurs, then locks into band centers that may cause problems.
Stereoscopic imager (WIDTH).
Although generally considered a mastering technique, the ability to expand the stereo image can also be useful in live sound work. When you hear it in action, we think you and your audience will be impressed.
The DEQ2496 WIDTH processor allows control of STEREOWIDTH (the clarity of the separation between the two sides of the stereo image), ASYMMMETRY (relative volume of the left/right stereo signal), ROTATION (panning stereo + mono in the stereo image) and a multi-part SHUFFLE function that can generate an additional Stereowidth low-frequency effect.
Compressor/Expander and Limiter
The DEQ2496 features a comprehensive set of dynamics processing tools that can be used as two independent channels or linked in stereo.
Everything you'll find on a dedicated compressor/expander is here, including variable ratios from 1:1.1 to 1:100, ATTACK times from 0 to 200ms, variable knee from 0 to 3dB and release from 20 at 4000ms, all adjustable from a coarse/fine adjustment scale. The built-in separate LIMITER has threshold, hold and release functions.
Digital delay
You can delay the DEQ2496s main or AUX outputs from 0 to 300ms and process the left and right channels independently.
Not only can you specify a delay in feet or meters, but you can also simultaneously compensate for the ambient temperature which affects the speed of sound!
RTA/SPL/FFT analyzer with Auto EQ function
The DEQ2496 features a real-time FFT analyzer for precise graphical display of 61 frequency bands. You can monitor main or digital inputs and outputs, AUX/digital output or power to an RTA microphone and display the results in multiple ways, including funky retro VU meters. You get all the usual peak/hold, display rate and scaling features you'd expect from a professional measuring tool, plus our user-definable AEQ (Auto EQ function), which lets you automatically analyze and adjust the frequency response of your system (perfect for preliminary room adjustments).
In graphic equalizer mode, you can choose between an NOT CORRECTED response, which shows the mutual influence of adjacent bands, or a TRUE response to apply a specially developed algorithm that displays the actual results of the equalizer adjustment.
Easy to install and use.
The DEQ2496 features balanced inputs and servo-balanced outputs with gold-plated XLR connectors, stereo auxiliary output, AES/EBU and S/PDIF inputs, XLR and optical output. Setup is intuitive, with an on-screen block diagram display, and you get a separate RTA mic/line input with phantom power, professional wordclock input, and MIDI connections for full remote control, as well as Preset and system updates.
You can maintain up to 64 full user presets at a time and, of course, dump and load as needed. You can also save and recall individual modules such as DEQ, PEQ, WIDTH or DYN. These comprehensive preset subsets allow you to maintain most of a preset's parameters, but change a few (like the graphic EQ) without having to generate a whole new preset.
Built for the road, precise for the studio.
The DEQ2496 is equipped with high-quality 24-bit/96 kHz A/D and D/A converters and two high-performance 32/40-bit floating-point digital signal processors for incredible sound resolution and 113 dB dynamic range. The internal switching power supply ensures maximum flexibility (100-240V~), noise-free sound, superior transient response, minimum power consumption and no surge.
