Until the mid-20th century, all ukulele strings were made of gut, a material used for thousands of years that combines a fast attack with excellent performance. A fundamental goal of our research was therefore to design a new synthetic product with the same acoustic properties as gut, but without its typical defects (high cost, short lifespan, high instability under humidity variations). Our new Nylgut® possesses precisely all these good qualities without all those defects.
