The Pitch Fork transposes the pitch of an instrument over a range of +/- three octaves and has three modes that allow the pitch to be transposed up, down, or both, simultaneously. The amount of pitch shift can be set to a fixed interval or changed continuously by an expression pedal or control voltage.

The controls are simple and intuitive. An 11-position shift switch selects the maximum transposition interval from D (Detune), a 17-cent shift, to Minor 2, Major 2, Major 3, Perfect 4, Perfect 5, Major 6, Minor 7, 1 Octave, 2 Octaves and 3 Octaves. A three-position switch controls whether the pitch is transposed up, down, or both. In Dual mode, two pitch-shifted signals are output. One follows the shift knob as if it were in the Up position while the other creates harmony. Dual mode settings include M3 up + P5 up, P5 up + 1 Oct down, 1 Oct up + 1 Oct down and many more. A Blend knob controls the mix of the dry signal and affected signal, and an EXP jack allows the player to control pitch and glissando with an expression pedal.

The Latch button allows you to select Latch or Momentary mode which affects the behavior of the pedalboard and the EXP input. In Latch mode, the footswitch toggles between on effect and buffered bypass each time it is pressed and the EXP input continually varies the pitch. In Momentary mode, the effect is only activated when the footswitch is pressed and when released, the pitch bracket goes into bypass.

In Latch mode, the EXP input controls the amount of pitch shift, ranging from unity to the interval set by the Shift control, and the pitch varies continuously throughout the full range of the expression pedals. In Momentary mode, the EXP input controls the glissando rate for the Pitch Forks pedal. When you press the bypass footswitch, the Pitch Fork switches from bypass at the interval set by the Shift control. The time it takes to reach this new note is the glissando rate. When you release the footswitch, the pitch of the note returns to unity at the same rate. This slide time can vary between 4 milliseconds and two seconds depending on the heel/toe position of the expression pedal. The default sliding rate is 60 milliseconds when nothing is connected to the EXP input.

The Pitch Fork is equipped with an EHX 9.6DC-200mA power supply and also runs on a 9Volt battery.
