Ledges is a compact three-mode reverb with the ability to save and recall six presets and a user-assignable expression control with many customizable options. We created Ledges for pragmatic musicians who need access to a wide variety of fantastic sounds and don't want to deal with menu diving, extra pedals, or midi controllers. Ledges offers three rich, distinct reverbs that cover all your bases - Room, Hall, and the nearly infinitely regenerating Plate - with user-assignable expression control and six presets for easy switching between settings. Presets can even save expression pedal assignments, making it easier than ever to save and switch between the 6 best reverb sounds that are yours and yours alone.
Ledges offers three unique reverb modes: Room, Hall, and Plate. Each mode uses a different algorithm, tuned to provide specific spatial qualities while remaining perfectly integrated into the mix. We avoided harsh or muddy sounds.
Mode R: Room Reverb
Room (R) has the darkest tone of the three modes. At the shortest length setting, it resembles a small square room, reminiscent of 80s reverb. As you increase the length, the reflections become distant and brighter, as if you were playing in a large tiled room. If you strike the strings harder, it has an almost spring-like reverb character without being completely washed out.
Mode H: Hall Reverb
The shortest length setting of Hall (H) picks up where the longest length of Room leaves off. Hall transitions from a large hall to a massive cathedral with many soft, distant reflections that build up faster and fade out longer.
Mode P: Plate Reverb
Plate (P) transitions from a traditional large plate to a near-infinite pad of reflections that creates a regenerative freeze effect that gradually fades away. At the shortest length setting, the decay of the Plate picks up where Hall leaves off. With the longest length setting, the higher frequencies of the reverb are recirculated, generating an almost infinite ambient pad of bouncing reflections under your initial attack that can go to the edge of self-oscillation. The recirculated pad can be further refined with the damping control to fit perfectly into the mix.
Pro tip: Ledges is a buffered bypass to allow the reverb to trail off naturally when bypassed. You can create a dense ambient pad, bypass the pedal, and play over your micro-loop that fades naturally. Get 2 or 3 Ledges and create a mini-reverb version of Frippertronics!
Presets
Ledges offers six presets and on-the-fly preset switching via footswitch, with expression control that can be mapped to different controls and can also be saved as a preset.
Saving, recalling, and overwriting presets has never been easier.
To save a preset, turn the preset rotary switch to the desired slot where you want to save your preset. Select the mode and settings you want to save (including the expression pedal assignment!), hold down the Save/Recall switch until the LED flashes between green and red, then release. Your preset is saved!
To recall a preset, simply select the desired preset you wish to use with the preset selector and perform one of the two actions below:
When the pedal is active and the effect is in use, hold down the footswitch for at least 0.75 seconds, and it will switch from Live mode to Preset mode.
Press the lit Save/Recall switch. The switch will change from green to red, indicating that you are now in Preset mode. Press again and the switch will change from red to green, indicating that you are in Live mode.
Operating Modes
Ledges has two operating modes which are indicated by the color of the Save/Recall switch LED. In Live mode, the pedal will operate exactly where the controls are set, and any changes will have no effect on the presets unless saved. In Preset mode, the saved presets, including expression pedal mapping, are selected using the Preset switch, and the physical positions of the controls will be ignored.
When the pedal is active and the effect is in use, hold down the footswitch for at least 0.75 seconds and it will switch from Live mode to Preset mode. With Ledges, it has never been easier to go from Live mode to Preset mode on the fly, greatly expanding your sonic cosmos - no need to bend down!
User-Assignable Expression Control
You can easily assign an expression pedal to any control, allowing for unlimited experimentation. Ledges ships with the expression jack mapped to the Damping control, but to reassign it, simply plug the expression pedal into the EXP jack, place the expression pedal in the toe-down position, turn the control (any value and in any direction) on the Ledges that you want to put under the control of the expression pedal, place the expression pedal in the heel-down position, and voilà! This control is now assigned to the expression jack and can be controlled by an expression pedal.
Controls
Length: sets the duration of the reverb.
Mix: adjusts the level of the reverb.
Damping: attenuates the highs in the reverb reflections.
Presets: Ledges has six preset slots available for you to save and recall your favorite settings. The settings for each of the three controls, the mode switch, and the expression jack assignment can be saved and recalled in any of the slots.
