MINI EGO COMPRESSOR
What is a compressor used for? A compressor adds an element of control to your playing level - it will drive the quieter parts up and the louder parts down. While a regular compressor pedal can give you an element of control, a good compressor will give you the "feel" that other average compressors lack. If you've played a great tube amp when cranked all the way up, you'll know what a good, natural compressor sounds like.
Based on the incredible success of the original Ego but featuring switches for tone (dark and bright) and attack (slow and fast), you can adjust your sound to a level of a pedal twice the size. Keeping the mix clean of the original, your original signal should be mixed so you can get all the benefits of a great compressor (pick up notes that aren't as loud and increase sustain) but you have the possibility of eliminating the squash at the front by bringing in the bypassed signal. With this control you can have full country squash or open studio level parallel compression. Basically, the Mini Ego gives you complete control over every aspect of your compression.
So, with a full range of controls and pure core sound, you won't find a compressor that works perfectly as an "always on" or as a more highly regarded "effect" than the Mini Ego from Wampler Pedals. .
