The Nuvo Clarineo is a clarinet in the key of C and is ideal for beginners aged 4 to 12. It is much lighter and smaller than a B-flat clarinet, meaning the finger stretch is shorter and the tone holes are smaller. This eliminates many of the physical challenges of the B-flat clarinet while encouraging children to practice more and develop the skills and enthusiasm needed when moving on to the next level.
This instrument can give a child up to a three-year head start on learning the clarinet. Since the fingering is the same, the transition to a B-flat clarinet is quick and easy when the time comes.
The Clarineo has a rich, mellow sound, just like a traditional clarinet, and can play 3 fully chromatic octaves. That is enough for Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto!
There is plenty of music and learning material through the WindStars program. The Clarineo is particularly well-suited for classroom ensembles playing the jFlute, jSax, and jHorn. The instrument is easy and inexpensive to maintain, and it is 100% washable in warm soapy water. This makes it ideal for school programs where children may share instruments.
The Clarineo set comes with two Nuvo synthetic reeds as well as a cane reed. As with all Nuvo reed instruments, standard soprano saxophone and E-flat clarinet reeds are compatible.
