Intended primarily for use with an electric guitar, the Crayon 69 from Electro-Harmonix is a full-featured overdrive pedal with bass and treble controls for adding more color to a wide variety of overdriven and distorted sounds. It can add subtle dirt and even give a bit of warmth to a single-coil pickup in the bridge position, emphasizing the treble range with a little buzz, and without ever sounding harsh - or even getting a dirty, garage-ish mid boost - rock by reducing the bass and treble levels.
Four knobs are available for your control: Drive, Volume, Bass and Treble. Drive dictates the amount of overdrive, Volume provides level control, and the other two shape the timbre of your sound. A true bypass circuit ensures that in bypass mode your signal is truly unprocessed. The pedal sounds warm and lush on its own, but also works well with other pedals on the board for stacking effects or when driving another overdrive pedal.
This is a mono pedal, with a 1/4" instrument input and a 1/4" instrument output. It works with the included 9V battery, but it will also work with the Electro-Harmonix 9.6VDC 200mA power supply available separately. The only difference between the Crayon 69 and the Crayon 76 is aesthetic, so choose the design that best suits your look or buy both and use them with different settings to complement each other.

GAIN Knob: This controls the amount of input gain. When you turn it clockwise, the overdrive goes from a simple touch of grain, in the fully counterclockwise position, to classic distortion, in the fully counterclockwise setting. clockwise.
VOL button: The control sets the output level of the Crayon. When VOL is turned clockwise, the output volume increases.
TREBLE Knob: As you turn TREBLE clockwise, the treble of the overdrive is emphasized, making your sound brighter. Turn TREBLE counterclockwise for a darker sound.
BASS knob: When you turn BASS clockwise, the bass is boosted. Turn BASS counterclockwise to reduce bass.
