Over the course of more than five decades and through a myriad of changing musical styles, the ES-335 has remained one of the most popular electric guitars of all time. Its ingenious blend of warmth and hollow body complexity, bite and sustain made it arguably the most versatile guitar available when Gibson introduced the model in 1958, and this design imperative has not changed today.
For some gamers more accustomed to the slimmer lines and more compact dimensions of a solid-body electric vehicle, however, the stock ES-335 may seem a bit larger and heavier. This is the case of the Gibson Memphis ES-339, a guitar built according to the design philosophy of its predecessor, the ES-335, but whose proportions are closer to those of legendary Gibson solid bodies such as Les Paul and SG. The gently arched top with true F-holes, a semi-hollow body with fine lines, a solid maple center block to reduce feedback and improve sustain, symmetrical rounded and rounded cuts with unparalleled top access - all here , minus a little weight and space.
