The iconic Hummingbird™, in a new Deluxe cutaway version, joins the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom collection. These magnificent acoustic guitars were designed and configured by Epiphone in partnership with the Gibson Custom team in Bozeman, Montana. The Hummingbird Deluxe EC has been modernized with the use of solid rosewood for the back and sides, giving it the rich, full sound of the traditional Hummingbird, along with the sonic nuances of rosewood, for deeper lows and even more sparkling high-end harmonics. The Hummingbird Deluxe EC’s cutaway body makes it easier to reach the upper frets, making it an excellent choice for lead players and those who wish to explore the entire fretboard range. The rosewood back and sides are paired with a thermally aged solid spruce top, which produces a pre-aged sound that is more powerful and resonant than a non-thermally aged top. It’s as if you were getting the benefits of many years of wood aging in a brand-new guitar. The soundboard is reinforced with traditional scalloped X-bracing, made of quartersawn solid spruce.
The Hummingbird Deluxe EC also features a one-piece mahogany neck with a rounded C profile. The neck is attached with a dovetail joint. It is topped with an ebony fretboard, equipped with 20 standard frets and adorned with elegant mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays. The body of the Hummingbird Deluxe EC features 6-ply binding on the soundboard and 4-ply on the back. Single-ply binding on the fretboard and headstock adds to the guitar's premium aesthetic. Gold hardware, including precise and smooth Grover® Rotomatic® tuners, is installed on the Gibson "open book" headstock and on the abalone-inlaid center strip of the three-ring rosette. The headstock features the Epiphone logo and Gibson crown inlaid in mother-of-pearl. The pickguard, made of an acrylic-celluloid sandwich, features the instantly recognizable Hummingbird motif, engraved in gold. The nut, compensated bridge saddle, and bridge pins are made of bone, while the belly-up ebony bridge is Gibson-styled.
The Hummingbird Deluxe EC is equipped with an L.R. Baggs VTC Bronze pickup and preamp with volume and tone controls pre-installed in the soundhole. It is therefore ready for the stage or the studio, wherever you are. The Hummingbird Deluxe EC also comes with the new Epiphone Protector Ultralite case. This hybrid design is inspired by the original Red Line cases that accompanied historical Gibson acoustic guitars. It combines practicality and protection, blending the light weight of a gig bag with the sturdiness of a hard case. It features a soft plush lining to cushion the guitar, as well as spacious internal compartments for spare strings, picks, capos, and other essential accessories. It also features a reinforced nylon handle and padded shoulder straps for increased comfort when traveling.
Battery is not included. To power your pickup, you will need a 9-volt battery.
