For twelve years, DiMarzio® has been working on designing high-quality, hum-free vintage single-coil pickups. Our goal has always been to recreate the best qualities of pickups from the 1950s and early 1960s. We played several early 1960s pickups that had a unique sound: at once metallic and woody. Naturally, we wanted to reproduce that sound perfectly, without hum and with minimal magnetic string pull. The Area 61™ achieves this. It performs well in all three positions. It is the ideal bridge pickup, combined with a pair of Area 58™ pickups, to explore the entire sonic palette, from Nashville to Texas, with a single guitar.
