Some amplifiers are as recognizable for their tone as they are for their unique character. The Synergy RD module captures two of the most revered high-gain British tones in history, offering a palette ranging from muscular rock crunch to thick, dense, modern saturation.
Designed for Synergy's all-tube modular preamp system, the RD features two identical channels, each capable of delivering two distinct British saturation personalities. Whether you are looking for precise hard rock rhythm tones, devastating modern metal, or soaring lead sounds, the RD delivers that characteristic grit, punch, and harmonic richness that have made these circuits successful on stages and in studios around the world.

"ROCK" AND "DARK" BRITISH TONES
In ROCK mode, the RD delivers the instantly recognizable sound of a modern British rock amplifier: precise, aggressive, and remarkably defined. From thick, classic rock crunch to singing lead tones, it offers exceptional note definition while maintaining the assertive mid-range punch and authority that have made this type of amp a modern standard.
In DARK mode, the RD transforms radically. The gain structure becomes thicker, darker, and more saturated, with a more imposing low end and a compression feel that is ideal for both crushing rhythms and doom-inspired textures, as well as fluid lead sounds with generous sustain.
Each channel is equipped with a three-position "Bright" switch, allowing for fine-tuning of the high-frequency response. Whether you need more bite, a smoother response, or a compromise between the two, this switch makes treble adjustment quick and intuitive.
Independent Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble, and Volume controls on each channel offer total tonal flexibility. Thanks to the complete independence of the two channels, the RD truly functions as two amplifiers in one. Set up complementary tones for rhythm and lead, create vintage and modern variations of the same sound, or develop completely different gain structures, accessible instantly with the flick of a switch.
CATHODE SELECT FUNCTION
The input tube's cathode circuit determines the amount of low-end frequencies passed to the gain stages.
Position 1 – 1.5kΩ resistor, 22µF capacitor. The fullest, softest sound. The entire bass spectrum reaches the gain stages, providing maximum body, a softer attack, and a sound that blooms more under saturation.
Position 2 – 2.7kΩ resistor, 0.68µF capacitor. The most precise and focused sound. Lows are attenuated before the gain stages, which tightens the pick attack and preserves definition for palm mutes at high gain levels. Factory setting.
Position 3 – 1.8kΩ resistor, 1µF capacitor. The middle ground. More body than in position 2, without the excessive softness of position 1.
There are no wrong choices. Try all three positions and adopt the one that offers the best playing feel.
