Signature John Mayer Model 3 PRS 635JM 25.5" bolt-on single-coil pickups Maple neck with 7.25" radius on fingerboard
The PRS Silver Sky is the result of a close collaboration between Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. Over two and a half years in the making, the Silver Sky is a vintage-inspired instrument that is both familiar and entirely new. This model is based on Mayer and Smith's favorite elements of vintage instruments from 1963 and 1964, resulting in an idealized version of a vintage single-coil guitar. The attention that has been paid to every detail sets this guitar apart.
Some of the more distinctive specifications include headstock shape, tuning keys, neck and fingerboard, bridge, pickups, and electronics. The keys, although vintage in style, have been modified with modern components and a locking mechanism, while the shape of the headstock is actually an inversion of the normal PRS design, allowing better access to the first fret. The tremolo system is also vintage-inspired, although it has been specially tuned to only go down in pitch so that the bridge plate remains in contact with the body when in the rest position.
Other high-quality specifications include a bone nut, curved cast metal jack plate that makes plugging and unplugging a guitar cable hassle-free, retooled knobs, slightly smaller frets than on most electric guitars PRS, and the dual-action adjustment rod (accessible from the front of the head for ease of use) PRS.
PRS carrying bag included.
