Designed by bass professor and low-end expert Ian Martin Allison, the MXR Bass Synth is a tonal powerhouse. It serves up massive sub-octaves, an expressive envelope, and lush modulation effects with exceptional tracking and sustain, along with all the features you need to shape every detail of your sound.
This pedal requires a 9-volt (330mA) center-negative power supply and can be powered by the Dunlop ECB003 9-volt adapter or the MXR Iso-Brick, Iso-Brick Pro, and Iso-Brick Mini power supplies. This pedal does not run on batteries.

FUNK IT UP
Get into your groove with a full suite of intuitive controls to shape every detail of your bass synth sound. The Sub Mix knob sets the amount of sub-octave blended with your main synth signal, letting you achieve the biggest, lowest volume you want. The Mod knob offers liquid and shimmering sounds, ranging from subtle, musical movement to bold, mind-bending pulses, while the Envelope knob adjusts filter response, from elastic bounce to slow, syrupy sweeps. The Mix, Cutoff, and Resonance knobs help you find the perfect sound and feel for your setup: blend your dry and wet signals, set the filter's cutoff frequency, and boost that frequency for extra punch.
Finally, the Voice knob adds additional harmonic oscillators for more complex sounds, while the Shape knob selects your preferred waveform: smooth and subtle triangle, rich and aggressive sawtooth, or thick and punchy square.
PRE-FUNK
If you’d rather get straight to the action without the setup, we’ve provided eight different presets, designed by Ian Martin Allison, to get you straight into the groove. Each is inspired by classic synth sounds, from Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" and Herbie Hancock’s "Chameleon" to Peter Gabriel’s "Sledgehammer" and Nine Inch Nails’ "Head Like a Hole." To cycle through them, just press the Preset knob.

For true low-end enthusiasts, the MXR Bass Synth offers plenty of additional settings, from oscillator and modulation mix to compression and tracking style.
