Using only 48V phantom power, the Radial J48 is an active DI box that produces an exceptionally linear response that extends from 20Hz to well over 40kHz. Low distortion of all types is achieved with a unique digital switching power supply that increases the internal operating rail voltage for greater headroom and better signal handling. The results are truly astonishing. The J48 offers an ideal even-order harmonic cascade and sonic performance that surpasses that of DIs costing several hundred dollars more.
And like all Radial products, the J48 is both feature-rich for the studio and rugged for the road. This includes a -15dB input attenuator to tame very loud signals, 180º polarity reversal for on-stage feedback control, and a ground lift to reduce hum and hum caused by ground loops. Special features include a blend function that elegantly blends left-right signals into mono without phase cancellation. To minimize the feedback effect with acoustic instruments, the J48 is also equipped with an 80 Hz high pass filter (low cut). When enabled, this filter also increases headroom by eliminating unnecessary low frequencies.
Radial's innovative design protects switches and connectors from abuse, while the internal I-shaped construction eliminates stress on the PC board. This helps prevent solder joints from cooling and ensures years of trouble-free performance. A non-slip cushion over the entire lower surface ensures mechanical and electrical insulation while guaranteeing good hold for rock scenes!
