The Radial McBoost is a high-performance microphone signal booster designed to raise the output of a typical dynamic microphone for better transient response and boost the signal of a low-output ribbon mic to a usable level for mixing consoles or preamps that may not provide sufficient gain.
• 25dB signal booster for dynamic and ribbon microphones.
• Extended dynamic range and microphone reach
• Uses standard 48V phantom power
• 3-position load switch and variable gain
The 100% discrete Class A circuit design starts with a dual-transistor J-FET circuit to produce up to 25dB of gain without introducing noise, color or artifact. Each individual transistor is carefully measured and batch sorted to conform to design specifications to certify performance. As is the case with all Radial products, the circuit board is then loaded into a reinforced 14 gauge steel I-beam enclosure to avoid external stresses due to twisting, which could otherwise cause premature failure of the part. A book-shaped cover creates protective zones at each end to protect switches, potentiometer and connectors from the rigors of the road.
Simply connect the McBoost in-line using standard 3-pin XLR connectors and enable 48V phantom power, then choose between three impedance settings to optimize microphone response. The McBoost will raise the output to produce more clarity, excitement and dynamism for long cables, whether you're in a recording studio, on a concert stage or in a broadcast center.
