Playground.
The SPD-SX is equipped with 9 highly sensitive rubber pads as well as 2 controls and 4 effects buttons for real-time control. Roland's cutting-edge trigger technology guarantees reproduction of unfailing precision and extraordinary dynamics. The screen is not to be outdone: of appreciable size, it remains clear and readable in any environment. Each pad has a LED that lights up to indicate the status of the pad. When you play sampled phrases by hitting pads, the corresponding LEDs light up as long as the phrase is heard. The brightness of the LEDs varies depending on the level of the audio data (like the level meters on a mixing console). High-contrast red lines allow you to clearly spot pad areas on stage.
More musical and more versatile.
Today, drummers and percussionists also need to be able to trigger audio samples. The SPD-SX meets all the requirements in this area and adds a metronome output, separate volume controls, a “Pad Check” function, individual outputs and more.
Integrated effects.
The SPD-SX contains 3 multi-effects processors: 1 master processor and 2 assignable processors per kit. The master processor allows you to play in real time like a DJ using dedicated front panel controllers. This is obviously particularly practical for filter, delay, loop and other assignable effects: the 4 buttons and 2 controls allow you to modify, delay and transfigure the audio signal.
Multi-pad sampling.
The SPD-SX emphasizes speed and efficiency in gaming and working. One of its most remarkable assets is “multi-pad” sampling, i.e. sampling for several successive pads. Start playing an audio source (player or computer), connected to the audio input or the USB socket, and hit a pad at the beginning and end of the desired fragment to assign it to the pad in question. Repeat the operation for the other pads. Simple, fast and efficient: assigning phrases to pads is a snap.
SPD-SX Wave Manager software provided.
The SPD-SX's internal memory is probably large enough (4GB) for all your samples, at least initially. It offers a recording time of ±720 minutes in 16-bit mono, 44.1kHz (10,000 audio files). However, the USB ports also allow you to import audio files from a USB flash memory. The included software “SPD-SX Wave Manager” allows you to import samples directly via USB, quickly assign audio data to pads and efficiently manage your samples.
