BRAD PAISLEY: PAISLEY DRIVE
That's right, at a gig Brian once threw a modified pedal at Brad Paisley's feet in the hopes that he would pick it up and try it. Lucky for us and you, Brad's tech picked it up, played it, dug it out and gave it to Brad who took it and LOVED it. From then on he used and loved Wampler pedals.
After a few years of using our pedals (Ego, Underdog and Faux AnalogEcho), Brad's tech at the time, Chad, mentioned to Brian that Brad wasn't 100% happy with his sound and that we should perhaps all working together to create the perfect overdrive. so Brad can record and tour with it. His requirements were quite “simple”…it must be clean but crispy with a bit of “beef”. It should have a smooth solo tone. It should add some hair to the tone, but then it should be able to give full gain, oh... but please don't destroy the tone. It has to have everything, in a pedal format, but it doesn't have to sound like a pedal!
Over several months, Brian made a few circuits and sent them out, there were a few "tweaks" here and there to make and then finally, when the official "prototype v2.0" landed, it went straight into the live rack . and on the 2010 “Brad Paisley: H20” world tour.
Brad Paisley:
“…we actually recorded this (pedal) in the studio, you know, to try it out. I turned on a Trainwreck amp that I had and compared the sound of the distortion and it was very, very similar. And it's a really good test because any time a pedal can imitate a great overdriven amp, then you're on to something..."
