In fact, thanks to the way it produced sounds similar to the famous Nobel ODR-S with more control to fine-tune its tone, the first Wampler pedal Brad fell in love with was the since-discontinued Underdog overdrive.
With this in mind, Wampler has combined Brad's two favorite Wampler sounds into the Paisley Deluxe Dual Overdrive Pedal. By packing a Paisley Drive circuit and Brian's Underdog into one pedal, Wampler delivers the ultimate Brad Paisley pedal. Not only do you have independent access to both tones, but you can stack them, for more harmonic-rich records, in any order you want. Drawing inspiration from the revolutionary signal routing of Wampler's famous Tom Quayle signature, Dual Fusion, you can use each side of the Paisley Deluxe as an individual pedal - perfect for today's switch-based pedal rigs today. Whether you're looking to emulate Brad's beautiful signature tones or are looking for a great-sounding overdrive with incredible flexibility, you can't go wrong with the Wampler Paisley Deluxe.
It's not just a pedal for country music, with more gain available than you can imagine, the Paisley Deluxe will fit into any setup and give you all the overdrive options you could want !
Bypass Switches – Fairly simple, these foot switches are wired to relay-based true bypass switches to ensure you don't have anything in the way when you deactivate the pedal. Press it to activate either channel and the LED indicator will indicate that it is active. c1 is red, c2 is blue.
Level – These control the output of each channel. They work like the volume knob on your guitar or amp. As you raise the Gain knob, and depending on how you adjust the EQ controls and switches, you may need to raise or lower this level to have the same output level. This is perfectly normal. Whether you prefer a boost when you crank your overdrive or about the same level as your clean sound, there should be enough adjustment range to suit all tastes. It's not a very powerful pedal, so if you're using a guitar with a very high output level, you may need to turn the volume up quite high - again, this is normal, as long as the pedal can reach the unity gain (same level when you throw it as when bypassed), it behaves as expected.
Gain – This controls how much dirt you get from each channel. Each channel has its own personality, so the best thing you can do is see what is best for you, you will have the VOICING switches, and also how the EQ is set...
Tone/EQ - how you want this channel to sound - start at noon for each, then as you increase the gain tailor the EQ to how you want to hear it, the versatility this feature gives you makes this side of the pedal alone quite remarkable. c2 has a perfectly placed tone control to give you a wide range of different tones, remember, the switches on the side will change the character of the gain, so you will need to adjust the EQ if you change this!
Fat Switch - This applies additional gain and depth to c1 only, there is also a slight change in EQ shape - c1 is quite "gainy" as it is, but this switch can and will send you into rock territory !
Voicing Switch – This changes the shape of the c2 EQ. When it is “outside” it has a fairly prominent middle bump and when it is “inside” it is more hollowed out. Two classic Brad tones, right there.
Choice of "Stacked" or "Separate" Channel Switching - The toggle switch has 3 settings: 2>1, Split and 1>2. Looking at the top of the pedal, the input jacks are on the right side (with an arrow pointing towards the buttons) and the output jacks are on the left side (with an arrow pointing away from the buttons). C1 means "channel 1" and C2 means "channel 2" on the jacks. In mode 2>1 and both channels are "on", the guitar is routed to channel 2, then channel 1. The guitar's input cable needs to be moved to the "C2" input jack ” and the output cable to the amp should be moved to the “C1” output jack. When both channels are enabled, the guitar is routed to channel 1, then channel 2. The guitar's input cable should be routed to the "C1" input jack and the output cable to the amp must be moved to the “C2” output jack. When the toggle is in the middle, it is in "split" mode and the pedal can be used as two individual pedals, both with its respective input and output jack. will not work properly, but no damage is caused.
